When we are talking about getting better at video games, one of the key aspects we have to nail down is your monitor. 144hz has become the standard for gaming monitors. 60hz is for the old days. If you really want to become the top 1% in your game, get at least a 144hz monitor. There is no discussion about that. But, now that 240hz is available everywhere, it has become a new standard in the esports scene. Almost every pro is rocking a 240hz monitor. The question is, should you get a 240hz as well?

But Yaron, your eyes cannot see more than 60fps. There’s no reason to get a 144hz monitor. I have only one thing to say to you. Just go ahead and try it. That’s it. Go to a store, go to a friend, and take a look. The difference is huge. Anyone who says you can’t see more than 60hz, has never seen a 144hz monitor. Simple as that. I am not saying the science is wrong. Our eyes really can see only 60hz, but, our brain does the seeing, not the eyes. You can google it to get a more detailed answer as I am not an expert in that field.

60Hz vs 144Hz

The difference between 60hz and 144hz is night and day. Everything feels way smoother, more responsive, and a lot clearer. The only reason you might stay with 60hz is if you are unable to get more than 100FPS. But if you can get more than that, the difference is astronomical and you should seriously consider getting a new monitor. ASAP. Even just surfing the web, it makes a big difference. Everything is just way smoother, way more snappier, and it can be a serious bottleneck for you. I have a friend, who played on a 60Hz monitor for years, the moment he switched to a 144hz monitor, I swear he started destroying everybody. It was his handicap.

But, if you can’t reach 100+ FPS, you won’t feel the difference, of course. So if you aren’t able to get 100+FPS, I will say it’s not worth it. You will have a 144hz monitor without its benefits. Unless you are surfing the web and you want smoothness in your google chrome, but I am sure you are looking to own some noobs in your favorite game.

144Hz vs 240Hz

The question you probably came here for. The 240hz trend is starting to grow and you are not sure if it is worth it.

In short, there’s still a noticeable difference between 144Hz and 240Hz. Motion is a lot clearer, and everything just feels smoother and snappier. If you can get 200+ FPS, I would say it is worth it if you are really competitive. But if you are getting under 200 FPS, there’s no reason to upgrade. You won’t be able to get all the benefits of a 240hz monitor.

But you should know that 240hz in the new standard in the esports scene. If you are really planning to become one of the best, to become the 1%, this is a no-brainer and you should totally get a 240hz monitor if your PC can handle it. The difference won’t be a magical as 60hz to 144hz but you will still see a big improvement.

Whether or not this is enough to justify a $500 purchase, it is up to you. As I said, the difference is not that great, but it is still there. Playing competitively, I would say it is worth it and you should totally strive for a 240hz monitor. All those fast paced action games like Warzone, Apex, Fortnite, even Valorant and CS:GO. It is a big difference in these games and you should totally strive for as much hz and frames as possible.

240Hz vs 360Hz

The difference between 240hz and 360hz is way smaller than 144 to 240. You have to get 360FPS to reap all the benefits, which is not an easy task by itself, but the price of these monitors is just too high to be competitive.

But let’s say you can get 360FPS and money is no issue. Should you get a 360hz monitor?

The answer is no, and it is because of this monitor:

BenQ ZOWIE XL2546K is a 240hz monitor with DyAc+. It is a back-light serving technique by BenQ which makes it the smoothest monitor on the market. It is the most used gaming monitor by professional players and for a good reason. If you are planning on buying this monitor, consider doing that through my referral link: BenQ ZOWIE XL2456K

So, getting a 360hz monitor in 2022 is still not the best option for you due to the ability of other 240hz monitors to out-perform 360hz monitors and by placing a huge task just by buying them – getting 360FPS consistently.

So when we consider all factors, I would say go 240hz if your machine can handle it. If not, 144hz is also fine and you won’t feel like you are missing a ton. Thanks for reading and I will catch you guys next time, peace.
