Warm up. What a love and hate relationship. We all know we should warm up. But we want to play the game. Come on. We are turning on the PC to play Warzone and crush some noobs, not to warm up in some lobby.

I totally get you. But once you realize the effects of a good warm-up routine, you can never go back. Warming up is an essential part of every pro gamer. Do you think pro soccer players just run straight to the soccer field and start playing? Do you think pro players are playing in competitions for millions of dollars without warming up?

It takes time to warm up when playing in Warzone. Imagine dropping into Caldera cold. You will get 5-10 engagements in 10 minutes. Maybe more, maybe less. And now, imagine doing a custom lobby bots drill, using Kovaaks to aim train. You will have way, way more engagements in 10 minutes. And you will be warmed-up in no time. So without further ado, let’s get started!

Warm Up Methods

There are 3 main warm-up methods:

Custom Lobby

Yes, a custom lobby with bots is probably the best way to warm-up. The reason I really like this method over Kovaaks, is because in Kovaaks, you are warming up your aim. And that’s it. You are doing all the 6 pillars of aim skills, but that’s about it. There are no mechanics involved. You are not warming up your slide canceling, your bunny-hopping, drop shots and everything that is movement \ mechanically based on the game. That’s the main reason I prefer a custom lobby. You will have a lot of engagements. You will slide cancel, you will drop-shot and do everything a good sweaty gamer does.

How to setup the lobby?

  • MapSpeedball, Atlas Superstore, Shipment, Aisle 9 etc. Choose something that is not too big. You don’t want to be searching for enemies. My favorite is Speedball. Really fun, small and action-packed. But it doesn’t really matter, as long as you always have opponents in sight.
  • ModeFree For All.
  • BotsSmall map: 7, big map: 12. For speed ball, 7/8 is perfect.
  • Bots DifficultyRecruit or Regular.
  • Time LimitUnlimited.
  • Score LimitUnlimited. Basically, after 10 minutes you should leave. You can change it to 100 or 150. But focus on warming-up for 10-15 minutes and you are set.
  • Match Start Time5 Seconds
  • Skip InfilEnabled.
  • Max Health100/200/300. If you want to truly mimic the Warzone experience, choose 300.  It really depends on how I feel. Sometimes I go regular 100, and sometimes I go 300. See what works for you. The problem with 300 is that everyone is bullet sponges and I find myself reloading half of the match. But really try and mix and see how it feels.
  • KillcamDisabled.
  • Radar Always OnFast Sweep (UAV)
  • Spawn Ammo MagsMax. Another tip I can give you is to turn on specialist, and put in scavenger so you can loot ammo from enemies. Basically infinity ammo.

Now, press “Create Custom Mode” so you can access it easily. Next time you are warming up, just go into mode and my modes and you can find it there.

Which weapon should you choose?

Well, that’s the main draw back of warming-up with bots. You can’t use Vanguard or Cold War weapons. And we all know they are meta right now. But luckily, the main point of this warm-up is to warm-up your mechanics and aim. You will still slide cancel like a maniac, drop shot, bunny hop, hit flicks, track enemies, etc. So it is not a big deal.

So you should choose whatever you prefer. These are the main ones I use:

  • Assault Rifle: Grau, M4, Amax.
  • Submachine Gun: MP5, MP7
  • Sniper Rifle: Kar
How To Warm-Up?

There are 2 main things you should do in order to maximize the effects of this warm-up routine. First of all, you should aim to the head. You really want to develop that muscle memory and really get yourself used to hitting headshots.

The second thing is, sweat. You should sweat when you warm up. Don’t take it easy. I really want to see you bunny hopping and slide canceling in the lobby. You should do everything you can, to avoid death and get as many kills as you can. Aim to the head, be precise, use movement to warm yourself up. Get used to every game mechanic you can. After 10-15 minutes you are set.

This is my favorite way of warming up.

Rebirth Plunder

This is my second favorite way of warming-up. It is inside Warzone, so you don’t need to have MW in your library. It is a great way to practice. Because it is a small map, you will have many engagements in 20 minutes. You will practice in real-game scenarios and it is awesome.

I usually do this warm-up routine + level up a weapon on the way.  I already talked about this in my best way to level up guns article, I hit 2 birds with one stone. I warm-up and level up guns. Win win.

The problem with this method, is that it is not reliable. Sometimes there is a rebirth plunder mode available, and sometimes there isn’t one. So you can’t count on that. But when there is a rebirth plunder mode. You should totally take advantage of that.

Caldera Plunder is bad. Caldera is a big map. Even if you are dropping into Airfield, you won’t see many enemies and it will take too much time to warm up. I wouldn’t recommend.

Kovaaks

The problem with Kovaaks, as I said before, it works only on your aim mechanics. There are no movement or Warzone-specific mechanics that you can work on. As a result, you are not fully warmed up when you start playing. But, if you are lazy and want to combine warming up + aim training. (Aim training before playing), then it will be sufficient.

That’s not really a big deal if you are warming up with Kovaaks, but just remember that you are missing the movement mechanics.

To warm-up with Kovaaks, I suggest you just use your aim training routine, but minimize its length to 10-20 minutes. If you want an aim training routine for Warzone, check this out: Best Aim Routine For Any FPS Game. It covers everything you need.

Conclusion

The best way to warm-up in Warzone, is in a custom lobby. In a custom lobby with the settings above, you will warm-up in every specific aspect of the game. From aim mechanics like flicks and tracking, to movement mechanics like slide canceling and bunny hopping. You can use Kovaaks and Rebirth Plunder to warm-up as well.
