We all see those streamers just play gridshot 24/7 and keep getting those high scores. We all want to be a part of that. But is it really beneficial? Does playing gridshot actually improve your aim?
What Is Gridshot?
Gridshot is one of the most played scenarios in AimLab. It consists of 3 big targets and once you hit one, a new one appears. The main appeal of this scenario is the speed at which you hit your shots due to the targets big size and spawn locations. Gridshot equivalent on Kovaaks is Tile Frenzy.
So, it is a scenario in AimLab. It consists of constantly hitting targets in quick succession. Basically, hitting many flicks in just a minute. What there is not like about it?
Is Gridshot Good For Your Aim?
Gridshot is not the ideal scenario for improving your aim. Gridshot is speed-focused. There is no need for high precision due to the size of the targets, plus, the scenario is not realistic, which as a result, will not translate to in-game. There are 100% better scenarios for your aim than Gridshot that cover the core fundamentals of aiming.
For aim training to really translate into in-game skills, your scenarios should be realistic and challenging. The problem with Gridshot is that it is neither realistic nor challenging.
Think about that last time you actually had to click that fast on targets. You’ve probably never done that. Plus, the size of the targets is just unrealistic. It is too big for any FPS game. Playing realistic scenarios like Sixshot, Spidershot and motion-shot will net better results in the long run.
For the people that say that it is good for flicks. Well, flicks are about precision. You won’t be able to develop that necessary precision with this scenario, due to the big static targets with very little distance between them.
Now, let me be clear. I am not saying that Gridshot is bad. I am just saying that there are better alternatives to Gridshot. Gridshot can be supplementary to your aiming routine and you can include it in your training. But it 100% should not be the main focus of your routine. Furthermore, no scenario should be the focus of your routine. Every routine should consist of a number of scenarios that cover the main aiming fundamentals of your game.

What Is Gridshot Good For?
Gridshot is good for mouse control and learning how to click faster. Many people work mainly on precision, and while this is not necessarily a bad thing, working on speed may supplement your aiming skills. Plus, it is a great warm-up scenario that quickly gets the blood flowing.
But again, I find it pales in comparison to other aiming scenarios, and there are just better alternatives.
Why People Obsess Over Gridshot?
The reason people obsess over Gridshot is because it is easy and very fun. It feels like an arcade mini game inside of Aimlab, which is very entertaining. Plus, many famous streamers are playing Gridshot and getting high scores on streams. Which causes many people to try it out by themselves.
I 100% get the appeal of Gridshot. It is hella fun. I’ve myself, used to play this scenario non-stop. This is why I recommend putting this scenario in your aiming routine.
You heard me right. I recommend putting this scenario in your aiming routine. It may not be the best scenario out there, but it is hella fun and you should 100% put it in your training to shake things up. To let yourself loose and get the blood flowing.
Can Gridshot Ruin Your Aim?
Playing Gridshot may increase your speed, but sometimes at the cost of your accuracy. Because people obsess over Gridshot scores, they tend to sacrifice precision and accuracy to get higher scores. Which as a result, develop bad habits and ruin their aim. Remember, precision is the most important aspect of aim training.
Make sure you stay in the 90-95% accuracy range when playing Gridshot. Even if it means that you slow down and get lower scores. Once you get the accuracy right, you can start and slowly increase your speed. But always stay in the 90-95% accuracy. It is vital so you won’t develop bad habits. After all, speed means nothing if you miss your shots, right?

Make sure your aim training routine focuses on every aspect of aiming and not just one part of it. That’s why I love aim routines that are built by professional aimers. They are built by players who know way more than us and they cover everything that we need in order to turn into a god-aimer. I recommend Best Aim Routine For Any FPS Game. But if you are making a routine by yourself, make sure to include every aiming aspect so you won’t be at a disadvantage (flicking, tracking, precision, speed etc).
