The warm-up. Many people underestimate the power of being warmed up. A lot of players neglect it because it is easy to skip it and just warm-up in-game. But there are repercussions for playing cold. And I think warming up is a vital part of any true good gamer.

Should You Warm Up?

Warming up is a crucial part of performing consistently. After not playing for a while, your body becomes cold, stiff, and unprepared to perform at peak levels. Warming up makes sure you are physically and mentally ready to play at the highest level. Thus, it is a crucial part of every player’s arsenal.

As you can see, after not playing for a while, you get rusty. You probably already know the feeling of jumping straight to the game and not hitting easy shots and performing poorly overall. A warmup of 5-10 minutes can easily fix that.

How Long Should You Warm Up For?

A Warm-up session should last 10-15 minutes. Less than that won’t be as effective and won’t warm you up enough. More than that is already a practice session and could be too tiring for a warm-up. 10-15 minutes is the sweet spot.

When Should You Warm Up?

You should warm up right before playing the game. Sometimes, during long gaming sessions, due to the nature of today’s competitive FPS games, you will get cold and will need to re-warm up. It is because of the long downtimes during matches like waiting to respawn, looting, waiting for enemies, etc. A quick little warm-up session may be needed.

How To Warm Up

There are two possible directions for a warm-up routine. In-game or an aim trainer. Each one has pros and cons so let’s cover both of them.

In-Game Warm-Up

In-game warm-up is a quick session that relies on the existest modes in-game. For example, the most popular one would be a deathmatch session. A deathmatch session is recommended as you will have many engagements in very little time. You will practice in-game, which means that you will practice movement, spray control, and everything that is engine correlated. (stuff you can’t practice or warm-up in Kovaaks or Aimlab).

So if your game has a good deathmatch mode or any mode with many engagements in very little time, warming up in these modes can be a good start. Also, if your game has a good custom lobby editor, it may also be a good option. Like with Warzone BEST Warm-Up Routine, I recommend a custom lobby with a custom setup that quickly warms up your aim.

The problem with playing competitive matches to warm up is the downtime. You will find yourself looting, searching for enemies, holding angles, waiting to respawn, etc. So it will take a long time to warm up for today’s session properly. That’s why warming up for 10-15 minutes is a must. You don’t want to play cold for 30 minutes, right?

Aim Trainer Warm-Up

Aim trainer is another good idea. It will quickly warm you up, and you will practice every aspect of your aim, from tracking to target switching. Then, you will be warmed up and ready to strike.

Its only drawback is that it warms your aim only. It doesn’t warm everything that is engine correlated. Spray’s, movement, and everything that is engine correlated. Anything other than pure aiming will stay cold. Nevertheless, you may find it works for you, so make sure to give it a try.

What I do is my regular aiming routine, or an easier version of it, for 15 minutes to warm up. BEST Aim Routine For Any FPS Game.

The best way to warm up is with a deathmatch or a custom lobby. Warming up in-game has the upper hand because you warm up your aim, movement, sprays, and everything that is mechanically based and engine correlated. While Kovaaks gets the job done, it won’t warm your game-specific mechanics.

But feel free to experiment and choose what is your favorite way to warm up.

How To Warm Up Faster?

First, make sure you use a game mode with many engagements like Deathmatch or Kovaaks, as the warm-up should be challenging and engagement-heavy. Make sure you are focused, calm, well rested and ready for the gaming session. Finally, make sure you are hydrated, healthy, and mentally calm.

As with every topic about improvement in gaming, your health is critical. Make sure you got your healthy lifestyle in check. Exercise, hydration, healthy food, meditation, and sleep. It will reduce your warm-up session length and will do wonders for you.

Final Words

That’s it guys, this topic is not that complicated, so make sure you warm up before your match, or else you will get carried for the first 30 minutes of your gameplay. Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!
