Toggle ads or hold ads? This is one of the questions you ask yourself on a bad day. You blame the settings on your performance. It’s fine. We’ve all been there. But on a serious note, toggle and hold to ADS. Both have their cons and pros. Let’s quickly go over them so you can choose the best one for you.

What Is Toggle To ADS?

Toggle ADS is a feature that allows you to enter aim down sight with a click of a single button. For example, I play Warzone, press the right mouse button, and scope in with my sniper. Whether in hold to ADS, you have to actually hold the hotkey (usually right mouse button) to aim down sight.

Lately, people have been swarming and changing from hold to toggle because toggle allows you to have less pressure on the mouse when aiming. When you are using hold to aim, you put force on the right mouse button when aiming which causes more friction on the mousepad which can cause inconsistencies in your aim. Toggle ADS fixes this issue. Does it mean it is the best one?

Toggle ADS Pros

  • Allows you to have less pressure on the mouse when aiming – It removes the added pressure from the hold to ADS which causes friction and causes, inconsistencies and inaccuracy. As a result, you will be more consistent whether you are ADS’ing or not.
  • Less pressure on your hand – Some games like Arma and Siege require you to be ADS’d for long periods of time, which can cause strain on your hand if you are using hold to aim.

Toggle ADS Cons

  • It is slower – Entering ADS and leaving ADS requires you to click twice, while hold to ADS requires you just to leave the button. It is actually a bigger deal than you think, as many games are very fast-paced, and the extra agility is crucial.
  • It can be sluggish – I’ve heard many people complain about toggle ADS as they are getting stuck in ADS in fights. When running away, running after an enemy, or just utilizing the game’s movement.

Let’s cover Hold To ADS and then give my final verdict.

What Is Hold To ADS?

Hold to ADS is a feature that allows you to enter aim down sight by holding a specific hotkey (usually the right mouse button). For example, I play Warzone, hold the right mouse button, and scope in with my sniper. Whether in toggle to ADS, you only have to click the hotkey to aim down sight.

Hold to ADS is the classic mode. It is the most commonly used and almost all fps games use hold to aim as default. But is it really better than toggle or this is the default due to historic reasons?

Hold To ADS Pros

  • It Is Faster – ADSing in and out requires one button click. If you want to leave ADS, just lift your finger. It is fast and the added agility is really critical in fast-paced games.
  • Added tension can create more control – You put more pressure on the mouse, therefore, have more control over it.
  • Makes you aware –

Hold To ADS Cons

  • More Friction – As I’ve said before, the added pressure causes more friction with the mousepad which can cause inconsistencies in your mouse control which can cause inaccuracy.
  • Can be tiring during long periods of time – Games like Siege, Squad and Arma require you to be ADS’d for an extended period of time, which can cause strain on your hand.

So now we know what are the pros and cons to each setting. Which one is the best?

Toggle ADS or Hold ADS?: Which Is The Best?

In general, Hold to ADS is the better option for most games as the added speed and agility that comes from hold to ADS are top-notch. But, For slow-paced games like Valorant and Siege, toggle ADS may be the better option as the extra speed from Hold to ADS is unnecessary.

But, it is the same as sensitivity. Personal preference. While there is subjectively a better setting, what important here is your comfort. You will perform better with what you are comfortable with. So make sure to test both of the settings and see what works for you. You might find Toggle to be way smoother. While some might like Hold better. Make sure to experiment yourself and see what works for you.

But, in general, I would recommend Hold to aim. The added speed and agility that comes with Hold to ads is unbeatable. The ability to get into and leave ADS with one click is godly when we talk about fast-paced games like Warzone and Apex Legends.

Remember, there are pro players with each setting. So get something that is comfortable for you!

What Are The Pros Using?

Most of the professional players are using hold to aim. But it may be due to historical reasons, and they might be using hold to ADS for thousands of hours, and switching to the latter is uncomfortable after such a long time. But, in this case, hold to aim is the better option.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!
