You want to be one tap master? You want people to talk about your one-taps? You want to be known for your high handgun accuracy? You’ve come to the right place. I’ve got a quick tip for you guys so you can increase your accuracy and hit way more shots with one tap firing guns.
The number one tip I can give you is:
Patience
It’s all about patience. You thought I was going to say practice? Kovaak’s? Well, soon I will, but for now, I am preaching about patience. It’s all about calculating your shots and not “spraying”. Let’s break it down one by one.
Accuracy
When you are calculated and you are not spraying your shots, when you take your time before you shoot, your accuracy goes up. You have to constantly aim with your gun. You have to aim and the moment you think it hits, you shoot. Even if you shoot at half speed, but hit most of your shots, its better than shooting at full speed and missing most of it, right?
Taking your time before you shoot, will help you line up your crosshair and time your shots effectively so you can hit more shots. You will have more time to line up your shot, and therefore your accuracy will go through the roof.
I feel like this is a no brainer, but if you notice, most of the players are just spamming the left button in-game fights and they are missing everything. Recoil is through the roof. Accuracy is non-existent. Taking your time with the shots is key to getting better with semi-auto guns.
Recoil
Another major part that is getting overlooked is recoil control. Shooting too fast, does not give your gun the time needed to reset its recoil. Therefore, your shots won’t hit where you aim. Your gun will “jump” too much and you miss most of your shots. Waiting for the recoil to reset so your gun will be 100% accurate is a must in medium and long-range fights.
In close-range fights, things are a bit different. Recoil control is less necessary because of the range, and depending on the game, you might want to spam a little (Mostly in Apex Legends. In tactical shooters, you want to stay accurate as much as possible). But if you are spamming your shots and you miss, it is not worth it. Again, hitting most of your shots at half speed, is better than missing most of your shots, at full speed.
Focus
Shooting slowly, and actively aiming and calculating each shot forces you to stay focused. When you are not focused, you are playing on auto-pilot and you are being lazier. You miss shots, you are supposed to hit. You lose more gunfights, etc.
Make sure you are focused on hitting every shot, make sure you are determined to achieve the highest percent of accuracy you can, and you do not have a spammy, “lazy aim”. Take each shot as its a life and death situation. (It really is, though) Do everything in your power, use every braincell you can to make sure you hit the next shot.
You can learn more about being more focused here: How To Be More Focused While Gaming.
Stay Calm
Another tip I can give you, is to stay calm. Staying calm, will help you with patience. Many people panic in gun-fights and they tend to spam their shots. You have to fight against it. (How To Be More Calm While Gaming). You have to stay calm, so you will be able to aim precisely. The moment you panic in a gun-fight, your aim gets worse. You spam your shots, and therefore you miss them all. So learning how to stay calm is key when playing with semi-auto guns.
Practice
There is no article that I’ve written without a mention of practice, some kovaak’s routines and all that kind of stuff. You know why? Because it works. That’s how you improve, after all.
There are two things that I want you to practice on:
1. Recoil Control And Patience
Here, I want you to go to a practice range or a custom lobby and practice on timing your shots. Strafe, run and shoot but make sure you are 100% accurate. Make sure you are not shooting too soon and really practice on getting that timing right. Move around, don’t just stand there. Imagine you are in a fight. Jump, strafe and shoot to the head. Do not spam, take your time. Make sure you hit everything.
This way, you will improve your muscle memory and force yourself to get rid of old habits of spammy aim. You will learn the correct way of shooting and eventually, it will become muscle memory.
2. Accuracy
This is pretty straightforward. Go to Kovaaks or Aimlab (Kovaaks Vs Aimlab), and focus on click-timing. If you need an aim-routine: Best Aim Routine For Any FPS Game. Keep practicing, work on click-timing, focus on accuracy. Do not focus on speed. Speed comes later. The number one thing you should focus on is accuracy. Focus on hitting most of your shots and you will improve quickly. (How To Aim Train Efficiently)
Conclusion
So, how to get better with semi-auto guns? Take your time before you shoot, line up your crosshair with the enemy’s head, and only shoot if you are certain that it will connect. Being deliberate will help with accuracy, recoil control and will force you to stay focused.
